The Mount Carmel East Emergency Department entrance became obstructed during 2019 construction. Mount Carmel had to move the entrance for the Emergency Room to the back of the hospital campus, which became confusing and frustrating for visitors who were anxiously trying to find the ER. Chute was asked to design and implement a temporary signage solution for the ER during the six months of construction.

The Chute team became busy with travel and other projects in the firm, and it fell to me to create a successful signage strategy for the ER. My strategy focused on distance legibility and consistency of language.
After getting the signage system approved from the hospital, I assisted with final art to help protect the design intent of the project. The temporary ER signage system was implemented within a week of delivery! |
